1.4.2.2. Automatic transmission

In this automatic transmission there is a system of blocking of transfers for misoperation minimization. It means that it is possible to carry out switching only from situation "P" at the pressed brake pedal (if the lock of ignition is in the provision of "ON" and the unblocking button is pressed).

The included transfer is shown also on the dashboard.
Р: Parking, start of the engine and extraction of a key.
R: Backing.
N: Neutral situation.
D: The normal mode (with the switched-on switch of the raising transfer).
2: The strengthened braking by the engine.
L: Maximum braking by the engine.

The switch of the raising transfer (fig. 1.126).

It is possible to be switched by pressing of this switch to the third transfer (the switched-off provision of the raising transfer) or to the fourth transfer (the included provision of the raising transfer).
For switching off of the raising transfer press the switch. The indicator lamp "O/D OFF" has to join. For repeated inclusion of the raising transfer press the switch once again. The indicator lamp "O/D OFF" has to go out.
For increase in fuel profitability and improvement of smoothness of the movement surely include the raising transfer.
If at the switched-on switch of the raising transfer to switch off and start the engine again, then this switch turns on automatically.
Cars about a cruise control – when using a cruise control, even at decrease in transfer, pressing and an otpuskaniye of the switch of povshayushchy transfer, braking by the engine will not join as the cruise control is not switched off.

Usual mode of the movement.
1. Start the engine. The lever of the selector has to be in the family way "P" or "N".
2. Pressing a brake pedal, switch the selector lever to situation "D".
If the lever is in situation "D", then the system of the automatic transmission chooses optimum transfer for these traffic conditions, for example, the usual mode, rise uphill, heavy towage, etc.
For increase in fuel profitability and improvement of smoothness of the movement surely turn on the switch of the raising transfer. At a low temperature of cooling liquid of the engine it is impossible to switch to the raising transfer even at the switched-on raising switch.
3. Release the parking brake and a pedal of a brake. For a smooth start of motion slowly press an accelerator pedal.

Braking use by the engine.
For braking use by the engine switching to the lowering transfer is carried out as it is described below.
– Press the switch of the raising transfer. The indicator lamp "O/D OFF" will light up and the third transfer will join.
– Switch to situation "2". At reduction of speed of the car to or below the following speed the second transfer will join and the strengthened braking is activated by the engine.
Engine 1AZ-FE..... 93 km/h.
Engine 2AZ-FE..... 106 km/h.
Engine 1MZ-FE..... 111 km/h.
– Switch to situation "L". At reduction of speed of the car to or below the following speed the first transfer will join and the maximum braking is activated by the engine.
Engine 1AZ-FE..... 46 km/h.
Engine 2AZ-FE..... 52 km/h.
Engine 1MZ-FE..... 50 km/h.
Cars about a cruise control – when using a cruise control, even at decrease in transfer by pressing and an otpuskaniye of the switch of the raising transfer, braking by the engine will not join as the cruise control is not switched off.

ATTENTION
Be careful at inclusion of the lowering transfer on a slippery covering. Sharp switching can lead to slipping or a drift.

Use of provisions "2" and "L".
Provisions "2" and "L" are used for the strengthened braking by the engine as it was already described earlier.
When switching the lever of the selector in situation "2" or "L" it is possible to begin the movement as well as at the lever in situation "D".
When switching the lever of the selector in situation "2" the car will begin the movement with the first transfer and will automatically switch to the second transfer.
If the lever of the selector is in situation "L", then the first transfer joins.

ATTENTION
Be careful not to give to the engine too big turns. You watch a tachometer for deduction of speed of the engine from hit in a red zone. For reference approximate values of the most admissible speed for each situation are given below.

It is not recommended to continue the movement on long rise or with towing of big weight when the lever of the selector is in situation "2" or "L". It can lead to serious damage of the automatic transmission owing to an overheat. In similar cases use situation "D".

Movement by a backing.
1. Completely stop the car.
2. Pressing a brake pedal, switch the selector lever to situation "R".

ATTENTION
It is forbidden to switch to transfer of a backing during the movement of the car.

Parking.
1. Completely stop the car.
2. For reliable turning on of the parking brake extend the lever of the parking brake against the stop.
3. Pressing a brake pedal, switch the selector lever to situation "P".

ATTENTION
At the movement of the car do not try to move the selector lever to situation "P" at all. It can lead to serious mechanical damage and loss of driving.

Methods of driving.
– During rise on a gentle slope, at frequent switching to the raising and lowering transfer between the third and raising transfer, switch off the switch of the raising transfer. After the end of rise surely at once turn on this switch.
– At towage of the trailer for preservation of efficiency of braking by the engine do not include the raising transfer.

NOTE
For deduction of the car on rise surely use a pedal of a brake or the parking brake. Do not try to hold the car by means of an accelerator pedal as it can cause a transmission overheat.

If it is not possible to switch the selector lever from situation "P".
If it is not possible to switch the selector lever from situation "P" even at the pressed brake pedal, use the button of blocking of switching to the raising transfer.
