2.1.1. General information




The engine 1AZ-FE is line, four-cylinder, with a working volume of 2,0 l, with two top cam-shafts in a head of the block of cylinders and 16 valves, it is developed on the basis of the engine 1AZ-FE of the modern RAV4 model.
The engine 2AZ-FE, line, four-cylinder, with a working volume of 2,4 l, with two top cam-shafts in a head of the block of cylinders and 16 valves, is developed on the basis of the engine 2AZ-FE of the modern Previa model.
The design of these engines was optimized for improvement of operational characteristics, fuel profitability and decrease in harmful emissions in the fulfilled gases and has the following features:
– it is equipped with PS starter with the built-in planetary reducer;
– meets requirements of the European norms of STEP III;
– it is equipped with an intellectual control system of a butterfly valve with the ETCS-i electric drive;
– it is equipped with an intellectual control system of VVT-i gas distribution phases;
– it is equipped with an inlet collector with channels of the increased diameter and length;
– it is equipped with a balancing shaft.
