5.2.7. Precautionary measures during the work with system of passive safety (SRS)

ATTENTION
The Camry car is equipped with system of passive safety which includes an inflatable safety cushion of the driver, an inflatable safety cushion of the forward passenger, a side inflatable safety cushion and a side inflatable blind of safety. Violation of the sequence of performance of work on service can lead to unexpected operation of system of passive safety at service with a possibility of accident. Further, if at service of system of passive safety the mistake, then, perhaps was made, the system of passive safety will not execute the functions at collision. Before service performance (including removal or installation of elements, their check or replacement), attentively read the following items, and then execute the operations described in the repair manual.

It is possible to get to work through 90 with after the ignition key is turned in the provision of "LOCK", and the wire is disconnected from a negative conclusion of the rechargeable battery.
(The system of passive safety is equipped with the spare power supply therefore if to get to work earlier, than through 90 with from the moment of disconnection of a wire from a negative conclusion of the rechargeable battery, the system of passive safety can work). Do not subject modules of safety cushions in the button of a sound signal, the dashboard and others, and also sensors of safety cushions to direct effect of hot air or a flame.

ATTENTION
It is difficult to confirm signs of malfunction of system of passive safety, thus, diagnostic codes are the most important source of information by search of malfunctions. By search of malfunctions of system of passive safety always check diagnostic codes before shutdown of the rechargeable battery.

Even in cases of insignificant collisions when the system of passive safety does not work, modules and sensors of inflatable safety cushions have to be subjected to check.
Before carrying out repair remove the sensor of an inflatable safety cushion if there is a probability that at repair the sensor can undergo blow.
Never use details of system of passive safety from other car. When replacing details replace them new.
Never sort and do not repair modules and sensors of inflatable safety cushions for their reuse.
If modules and sensors of inflatable safety cushions fell or have cracks, dents or other defects on cases, arms or sockets, replace them new.
By search of malfunctions in electric chains of system use volt/ohmmeter with a high impedance (not less than 10 kOhm / In).
Elements of system of passive safety are supplied with information labels. Follow instructions on these labels.
After work with system of passive safety is finished, execute check of a lamp of the alarm system of system of passive safety. At a wire detachment from a negative conclusion of the rechargeable battery memory of hours and the audio system is cut off power. Before works write down contents of memory of the audio system. Upon termination of works restore settings of the audio system and determine time on hours. For prevention of deleting of memory in the memorable systems never use an external source of reserve food.
All sockets of system of passive safety have distinctive yellow color. For ensuring high reliability sockets of system of passive safety which arrangement is shown on the previous page have a special design and functions. Contact conclusions of these sockets are covered with gold for ensuring high reliability and durability.
